Abingdon Theatre Company has added more Broadway names to the roster of stars helping to celebrate the company's 31st anniversary. The event, honoring The Vagina Monologues playwright V and two-time Tony nominee Mary Beth Peil, will be held October 23 at Edison Ballroom.
Joining the line-up are Tony winner Bonnie Milligan (Kimberly Akimbo), Jeannette Bayardelle (Girl From the North Country), Carolee Carmello (1776), Mandy Gonzalez (Hamilton), Samantha Pauly (SIX), Maria Bilbao (Sweeney Todd), Kennedy Caughell (Paradise Square), Kara Lindsay (Newsies), Amy Hargreaves (Homeland), Shereen Pimentel (West Side Story), and Carrie St. Louis (Kinky Boots). They'll appear alongside the previously announced Michelle Williams, Rosario Dawson, Christine Ebersole, Katie Finneran, Laura Benanti, Kate Baldwin, L Morgan Lee, Mary Testa, Bianca Marroquín, Lesli Margherita, Scarlett Strallen, Dee Roscioli, and Ilda Mason.
Abingdon Artistic Director Chad Austin is directing the evening, which will include cocktails, dinner, and a live performance. Deidre Goodwin is choreographing, and Robbie Cowan will music direct.
Peil will be recognized with Abingdon's Legacy Award, honoring her nearly four-decade-long career on the Broadway and Off-Broadway stage. Peil began her career in the world of opera, coming to the musical theatre stage in 1983 in a Minnesota Opera production of Kiss Me, Kate. In the years since, she's starred on Broadway in The King and I, Nine, Sunday in the Park With George, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Follies, The Visit, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, and Anastasia.
Abingdon most recently presented Robin & Me: My Little Spark of Madness, written and performed by Dave Droxler and directed by Austin.
