Co-written by Matt Opatrny and Lirak Celaj, and co-directed by Jessica Burr and Florent Mehmeti, performances of Doruntine will run April 23-May 10 at The Interart Theatre. The play is inspired by an ancient Albanian legend, a mythical tale of family, power and forbidden love.

Doruntine, a story of marriage, tradition and an incredible journey on horseback, was first realized in the U.S. in 2008 and received critical acclaim. It was followed by a sold-out Balkan tour throughout Kosova, Macedonia and Albania. The partnership between the international organizations aims to build a cultural bridge between New York and Kosova, a new nation with a language and culture that are among the planet's oldest.

The cast includes Kevin Chu, Eshref Durmishi, Nentor Fetiu, Njomeza Ibraj Fetiu, Tatyana Kot, Poppy Liu, Ilire Vinca Celaj and Nathan Richard Wagner.

The production includes set design by Anna Alisa Belous and Matt Opatrny, lighting design by Justin Partier, costume design by Anna Alisa Belous‎ and Annelise Nussbacher and sound design by Beth Lake. Emily Goforth is the production stage manager, and Rachel Gilmore is the production manager.

Blessed Unrest is an award-winning, ensemble-based experimental physical theatre company that has produced 25 full productions, 15 of which were world premieres. Teatri ODA was founded shortly after the conclusion of the Balkan wars of the 1990's with the mission of nurturing the arts and culture in defining the new nation and the building of a democratic society.
