Between Riverside and Crazy Adds 4 Live Streamed Performances

Between Riverside and Crazy, which opened on Broadway December 19, has extended the simulcast window for live stream tickets to view the production.

Four additional performances, February 17 at 8 PM, February 18 at 2 PM and 8 PM, and the final performance of the production on February 19 at 3 PM, will be available to view nationwide.

This is the second time Second Stage has live-streamed a Broadway production, following last season's Clyde's. That production was streamed in 49 states and Washington, D.C.—78% of viewers were outside of NYC—and sold out 11 of its 14 streamed performances. As with the Clyde's streams, Between Riverside and Crazy is captured by 5-7 cameras and edited live. Cameras are operated remotely and placed in the theatre to avoid disrupting the in-person audience.

Stephen Adly Guirgis' Pulitzer-winning Between Riverside and Crazy opened at the Hayes Theater December 19, 2022. Previews began November 30, and the run will continue through February 19.

A comedic look at life in rent-controlled New York City, Guirgis' play follows recently widowed ex-cop Walter "Pops" Washington and his recently paroled son Junior as they try to hold onto their rent-stabilized apartment.

Oscar, Emmy, and Grammy winner Common makes his Broadway debut starring as Junior. He shares the stage with much of the play's original Off-Broadway cast, including Victor Almanzar as Oswaldo, Elizabeth Canavan as Detective O'Connor, Gary Perez as Lieutenant Caro, Rosal Colón as Lulu, Maria-Christina Oliveras as Church Lady, and Stephen McKinley Henderson as Pops; Almanzar and Canavan make their Broadway debuts with the production.

Rounding out the company as understudies are Erick Betancourt, J. Anthony Crane, Shawn Randall, Kate A. Mulligan, Leo Finnie, and Vivana Valeria.

Pendleton, who also directed the cast Off-Broadway, returns with his original creative team: scenic designer Walt Spangler, costume designer Alexis Forte, lighting designer Keith Parham, and sound designer Ryan Rumery, who also provides original music. Casting is by William Cantler and Karyn Casl of The Telsey Office, with John C. Moore serving as production stage manager and Bryan Bauer as stage manager.

Between Riverside and Crazy made its Off-Broadway debut in 2014 at Atlantic Theater, where it had a sold-out run. Second Stage revived the show with much of the same cast and creative team at its Tony Kiser Theater Off-Broadway in February 2015.
