On the Rialto Archive of Late Scenic Designer Robin Wagner Donated to New York Public Library for the Performing Arts

The collection documents the three-time Tony winner's decades of designs.

The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts' Billy Rose Theatre Division has acquired the archives of three-time Tony-winning designer Robin Wagner, who passed away May 29. While the collection was obtained prior to Mr. Wagner's passing, it is currently being processed and is not yet available to the public. His archive join an esteemed collection at the library, including records from the Public Theater and the archives of Harold Prince, among many others.

The Wagner collection will feature all of his sketches, paint elevations, and technical drawings for the designs he created throughout his career. Researchers will be able to access the material at the library, housed at Lincoln Center. Updates on the collection can be accessed here.

Mr. Wagner was nominated for 10 Tony awards, winning for On The Twentieth Century, City of Angels, and The Producers. His final Broadway design came in 2012, when he designed the short-lived musical Leap of Faith. In total, Mr. Wagner worked on 63 different Broadway productions, with his credits including the original Broadway productions of Promises, Promises; Crazy For You; Jesus Christ Superstar; 42nd Street; Angels in America; Victor/Victoria; The Boy From Oz; and Young Frankenstein.
