New York City Children’s Theater honors Idris Goodwin, Emma Halpern, and Marietta Ries Lavicka during its 25th Anniversary Gala May 24 at 6:30 PM at The Edison Ballroom.
NYCCT is presenting playwright and director Goodwin, currently the executive director of The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College, with the Luminary Award; Halpern, the former co-artistic director of New York City Children’s Theater, with the Family of Artists Award; and Ries Lavicka, the New York City Children’s Theater Board Chair, with the Harmony Award.
The evening also features performances from Tony nominee Anika Larsen (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) and Freddie Maxwell, Telly Leung (Aladdin), and Michelle Arotsky, Quinn Corcoran, and Kevin Morrison, who will offer tunes from NYCCT’s family musicals.
New York City Children’s Theater’s mission is to promote children’s literacy and social development through accessible professional theatre productions and arts-in-education programs. The gala will celebrate the three honorees and the difference the company makes in over 20,000 children’s lives each year.
The gala co-chairs are board members Larsen and Javier Sanchez. All guests must show proof of vaccination and a negative COVID test.
