Manhattan's Midnight Theatre will be transformed into a 1930s nightclub for An Evening of Jazz on May 13. The evening, featuring a preview of The Jack Cole Dancers’ Club Act, is a fusion of world, jazz, and theater dance styles and Jazz music, directed and choreographed by Camden Loeser. The show is a tribute to choreographer Jack Cole, known as one of the forefathers of American Jazz Dance.
The company includes Anna Bermudez, Becca Fox, Caleb Marshall, Chelsea Green, Erica Lee Cianciulli, Jaryd Farcon, Jenni Poole, Kristin Yancy, LaTarika Pierce, Mattie Walker, Sang Santhebennur, Tori Carboni, Valentina Guedez, and Yuka Notsuka. Music Supervisor Etienne Lytle leads the band, which features Ari Folman-Cohen, Doug Hinrichs, Kyle Schweizer, and Ran Livneh.
The creative team also includes Associate Choreographer Evy Vaughan, Bharatanatyam Choreographer Ramita Ravi, and West African Choreographer Angel Kaba. Produced by Julia Harnett and Curtis Howard.
The Jack Cole Dancers will premiere the full production of their Club Act on June 10, with further engagements on June 17, June 24, and July 1.
