Chicago's Goodman Theatre has announced additional casting for its 2024-2025 season.
Harry Lennix (The Blacklist, Radio Golf) and Alexander Gemignani (Les Misérables, Carousel) will play, respectively, attorney Henry Drummond and prosecuting attorney Matthew Harrison Brady in the company's season opener, Inherit the Wind.
Directed by Goodman Resident Artistic Associate Henry Godinez, Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee’s 1955 drama will play the Chicago venue September 14-October 13.

Christopher Donahue, a veteran of regional theatres around the country, will take on the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in the Goodman's 47th annual production of A Christmas Carol. Jessica Thebus will direct the Charles Dickens holiday classic, set for November 16-December 30.
The previously reported Oscar winner Helen Hunt (As Good As It Gets, Life x 3) will be joined by the newly announced Ian Barford (Linda Vista, August: Osage County) in Susan V. Booth's revival of Harold Pinter's Betrayal. Barford will play the role of the husband, Robert Downs, in the domestic drama, which will be presented February 8-March 16, 2025.
"We are thrilled to welcome Chicago’s own Harry Lennix and the multi-hyphenate Alexander Gemignani to the Goodman stage as they contend with the role of science and religion in our big and bold season opener Inherit the Wind," said Artistic Director Booth in a statement. “Additionally, Ian Barford, long overdue for a return to the Goodman, is one of Chicago’s most riveting actors, and I can’t wait to see what he brings to our Betrayal triangle. And I am kind of over the moon at the prospect of Christopher Donahue, who recently appeared in The Cherry Orchard, bringing the curmudgeon with a heart we all know and love to life in A Christmas Carol.”
The Goodman is currently presenting the world premiere of the Jason Robert Brown-Taylor Mac musical Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
