Danes, who stars in the popular Showtime series "Homeland," made her performance debut at PS122 in 1985, age six. "I was a duck and I quacked!" she said of that initial performance in a statement. She also performed there as a dancer in 2005 and 2007. PS122's spring gala, to be held at Capitale in New York City, will feature performances by special guest artists and award presenters, to be announced at a later date. The evening will raise funds in anticipation of the organization's return to its newly renovated East Village space.
According to press notes, the funds raised "will ensure that PS122 can successfully navigate the institutional and physical growth necessary to take full advantage of the buildings renovation...[the] campaign gives PS122 the flexibility to take risks, adapt, and grow as a leader within the cultural ecology of New York City. PS122 is invigorated by the boundless possibilities in returning to its custom designed theaters."
Tickets to the Spring Gala are available by calling (212) 477-5829 or online at ps122.org/gala. Capitale is located at 130 Bowery, New York.
