There's now nearly 3,000 shows playing this summer!

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the biggest arts festival in the world, with over 3,000 shows. This year, Playbill will be going to Edinburgh in August for the festival and we’re taking you with us. Follow along with us this spring and summer as we cover every single aspect of the Fringe, aka our real-life Brigadoon!

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society has announced an additional 1,596 shows that will be on offer at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe, bringing the programs total to nearly 3,000 shows!

Newly announced theatrical offerings include It's a Motherf**king Pleasure by the disability-led theatre company FlawBored; An(dre)a Spisto: El Dizzy Beast about ‘a queer, autistic, latinx caterpillar on the edge’; the Welsh and Irish folktale based Plague Stone Party: Farewell, Tor; and more.

On the comedy and music side of things, Barry Fern will presents his Arthur's Seat Comedy Extravaganza at the summit of Edinburgh’s dormant volcano; Senegalese singer Samba Sene and Diwan will lead a diverse international collection of musicians, at The Jazz Bar; and a 60 piece orchestra (conducted by composer He Zhanhao) will perform one of the most popular classical works in the modern Chinese canon, The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto, at Ashton Hall.
