A Musical About Star Wars—or Why Star Wars is the Greatest Thing in the Galaxy, Much Much Better than Star Trek will play AMT Theater this summer, marking the musical parody's return to Off-Broadway following its successful 2019 engagements at Theatre Row and St. Luke's Theatre. The musical's second Off-Broadway run was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Created by Tom D’Angora (the producer behind Off-Broadway's The Marvelous Wonderettes and NEWSical The Musical), A Musical About Star Wars recently played Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood. The return New York engagement will begin performances July 7.
A Musical About Star Wars is written by D’Angora, Taylor Crousore, and Scott Richard Foster. The original score and lyrics are by Billy Recce. The production is directed by Tom and Michael D'Angora, with choreography by Ashley Marinelli.
In A Musical About Star Wars, Taylor and Scott find themselves bonding in a Staten Island Blockbuster Video over their love of the Star Wars films. Together the self-proclaimed “Millennial Falcon” and “Gen-X Winger” create a musical that celebrates the magic, the fandom, and the legacy of all things Star Wars. That is, until their co-star—an actor, activist, and recent graduate of AMDA—makes a startling admission.
Casting and additional creative team members will be announced at a later date.
