A collaboration with the Times Square Alliance, the weekend-long event will invite theatre fans to the heart of Broadway for performances, sing-alongs, and more.

It's officially Pride Month, and that can only mean one thing—the triumphant return of Playbill and the Times Square Alliance's Pride in Times Square is nearly upon us! The third annual weekend-long event will invite theatre fans to the heart of Broadway to celebrate in style, with performances from Broadway stars, a nighttime disco dance party, and more. Festivities are planned for June 28 and 29, coinciding with NYC Pride Weekend.

The weekend will close June 30 as the Playbill Pride Float returns to the NYC Pride March, with supporting partner Heritage of Pride. Double-decker buses from some of the Pride in Times Square sponsors will also get in on the fun, helping to make 2024 NYC extra special.

Newly released today is the event's lineup. The fun will kick off with the Broadway Pride Block Party June 28 beginning at 5:15 PM rain or shine. This free party will feature performances and guest appearances from top Broadway and Off-Broadway favorites, to be announced.

Moving into June 29, the day will begin with a celebration of the NYC Summer Youth Employment Program at 11 AM, presented by SUMMIT One Vanderbilt. The program was launched to connect young people who identify as LGBTQIA+ with supportive, welcoming paid summer jobs and career experiences. Join us for a high-energy celebration of this exciting program, including performances, stories, and guest speakers!

Next up at 11:45 AM will be the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce, which is again teaming up with Grubhub to offer grants to NYC-based LGBTQIA+ and allied bars and restaurants. This year's recipients will be recognized on stage at this event.

Beginning at 2:30 PM, ViiV Healthcare will present Celebrate You!, featuring a lineup of proudly queer talent celebrating and supporting queens everywhere.

And starting at 5:15 PM will be the return of one of Pride in Times Square's most eagerly anticipated events, the Big Broadway Disco. Get out your best bell bottoms and point the lights at the mirror ball as we dance the night away to classic and contemporary Broadway songs and performances, all with a special disco flare.

“Playbill is extremely proud to take part in our third-annual Pride celebration in the heart of New York City with our fantastic partner, the Times Square Alliance,” says Playbill Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Alex Birsh. “For 10 years, we have been honored to change our iconic yellow design to recognize the Pride Flag colors, celebrating this expansive and important community. And this year, we are even prouder to celebrate with another activation that celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies in Times Square. Playbill aims to be a leader in our community, and we look for this event to continue our tradition of standing with and behind our LGBTQIA+ friends, family, and allies. Here's to an amazing celebration with our partners, sponsors and the entire Broadway community."

“We are thrilled to partner with Playbill to host a Broadway celebration of Pride in Times Square for a third year in a row,” adds Times Square Alliance President Tom Harris. “Playbill does a phenomenal job curating free events and programs with the Broadway community to celebrate pride, and we are excited to involve our Times Square businesses to make this a unique theatre district Pride celebration.”

"We are very proud to support the third annual Pride in Times Square, which celebrates the diverse talent that calls NYC home, signals to the world that our city's performance industries are back and emphasizes this administration's commitment to making this a more livable and inclusive city for all," says Pat Swinney Kaufman, Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment. "This cultural and musical extravaganza is not only the perfect way to close out Pride Month in NYC, but also New York Music Month, the city's official celebration of its music industry with events taking place at locations throughout the city in June."

The event is part of Playbill's LGBTQIA+ Pride celebration throughout the entire month of June, which will see the iconic yellow Playbill logo change to a Pride rainbow on programs handed out on Broadway and at major theatres nationwide.

Past Pride in Times Square events have seen nearly 800,000 attendees, with social media coverage attracting more than 1 million impressions. The 2023 Pride March was attended by a staggering 2.4 million people. Those interested in sponsorship opportunities should email [email protected].

The third annual Pride in Times Square is being presented by ViiV Healthcare and NYC Pride, with additional support from SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce, The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, and MOTTO by Hilton NYC Times Square.
