Stage to Page 5 Broadway Stars Share Their 2019 New Year’s Resolutions Favorites from Come From Away, The Cher Show, and more share their goals for the coming year.

As we wrap up 2018 with top news of the year, the year’s most powerful images, unforgettable quotes, and more, Playbill also looks ahead to 2019. We asked these Broadway bigwigs to share their New Year’s resolutions to inspire us to be the best that we can. (And, for more inspiration, check out the Playbill Mixtape: Live Your Best Life Edition.)

“My New Year’s resolution is to not take anything personally. I want to remember that everyone is going through their own battles that have nothing to do with me. I feel like owning my own feelings and not placing blame on others will serve as a helpful tool for a happy, peaceful new year.” – Jenn Colella, currently Beverley/Annette/others in Broadway’s Come From Away

“I consider myself environmentally conscious, but I am certain that I do not do enough; in the new year I pledge to take at least one extra step every day to reduce my carbon footprint and to make myself less of a drain on the world's natural resources.” – Jarrod Spector, currently Sonny Bono in Broadway’s The Cher Show

“The energy of this amazing city can often be tangibly chaotic, and I definitely feel a sensitivity to it at times. Even with a daily meditation practice I still find that I can be reactive to things like subways, spatially unaware knuckleheads staring at their phones, blocking doorways.... In an attempt to cultivate a more peaceful flow, I'm committing to practice more empathy and patience. My resolution is to silently offer blessings to the first 50 people I see every day; I could go on and on about the benefits of this, but just the simple act of offering kindness to others, without any expectation in return, is a beautiful thing, right? Try it.” –Clarke Thorell, currently Zoltan Karpathy in Broadway’s My Fair Lady

“In 2019, I resolve to spend less time on social media. I also hope to make opportunities to connect with others in real time.” – Jim Walton, currently Nick/Doug/others in Broadway’s Come From Away

“My New Year’s resolution is to connect with all of my Kentucky family members more. And not just texting but actual phone calls. When you are opening a new show, it becomes all about that and you don’t have the time to check in, so I WANT to be better! 2019 is all about Family!” – Angie Schworer, currently Angie in Broadway’s The Prom
