Every day this December, Playbill will be getting into the spirit of the season with 31 Days of Holiday Cheer—sharing some of our favorite music videos from Broadway stars. Check in daily for classic tunes and new songs about Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year's. And we even have some surprise new, original Playbill videos to share.
Hallmark knew what they were doing when they tapped singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson to pen a song for one of this season's new Christmas movies. The composer turned out a sweetly simple sentiment, singing "This Christmas I'm right where I want to be."
"This Christmas" was written for the film A Heidelberg Holiday, which premieres on the Hallmark Channel December 20 (and is one of many Hallmark holiday movies you can watch featuring Broadway stars). Ginna Claire Mason, a former Wicked Glinda, stars as Heidi. She is an artist selling her beautiful glass ornaments in Heidelberg, Germany's famous Christmas market. While abroad, she may or may not fall in love with fellow artisan Frédéric Brossier. Who knows.
Michaelson made her Broadway debut as a performer in Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812. This season, though, she makes her composing debut with the upcoming Broadway musical The Notebook.
Check out Michaelson's lyric video above for, "This Christmas." The song is produced by Ariza, and the video is by Broadway performer (and Michaelson's steady plus one) Will Chase.
