Broadway News Watch Andy Blankenbuehler Address Bandstand’s Final Audience Live on Facebook The director-choreographer spoke from the stage of Broadway’s Jacobs Theatre during the final curtain call September 17.

During the final performance of Broadway’s original musical Bandstand September 17, the production took to Facebook Live to broadcast the final minutes of the show and the final curtain call.

Watch the video below to catch the reprise of “Nobody” and the final scenes of Bandstand before the cast, starring Laura Osnes and Corey Cott, took their final bow.

Then the director and Tony-winning choreographer of Bandstand Andy Blankenbuehler took to the stage of the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.

“It’s such a tremendous gift to work on this show, it always has been,” he said. “Many years from now, after the five-year rollercoaster ... I know that this show will be one of the most important things and frankly one of the most successful things that I have ever done.”

He continued to praise the work of his collaborators, writers Richard Oberacker and Robert Taylor saying: “[This show] has provided so much healing for people who needed healing. I know that people walk away with the show being an inspiration, so thank you to the writing for that.

Finally, Blankenbuehler thanked his cast for “fearlessly following vision and fearlessly following what they know art can do, and that it can heal.

“So whether it's fleeting or forever, that's what we do.”

Bandstand has announced further life outside of Broadway. The show has already announced a partnership that will allow for a national tour.
