Film & TV News Watch Alan Cumming Appear as Brandon Lee in the Documentary...About Brandon Lee

"The subject of this documentary refused to be filmed," states the trailer for My Old School.

Alan Cumming is having a very Dana H. moment in the upcoming film documentary My Old School. The doc, from filmmaker Jono McLeod, centers on an event at Bearsden Academy, his secondary school in Glasgow, Scotland, and the arrival of new student Brandon Lee in 1993.

According to a line in the trailer (watch above), Lee refused to be filmed for the documentary, so Cumming was hired to lip-sync the role over the taped interviews, à la Tony winner Deirdre O'Connell in this season's Dana HIn addition to Cumming's spots as Lee, the film also includes period-specific animation and interviews with other classmates and teachers to unravel the mystery of who Brandon Lee really was.

My Old School premiered as an official selection at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, and will get a theatrical release from Magnolia Pictures July 22.
