Sony Pictures has secured film rights to the upcoming stage adaptation of the Britney Spears musical Once Upon a One More Time, which is set to world premiere in Chicago this fall ahead of an anticipated Broadway bow.
Spears will produce the film adaptation along with her manager Larry Rudolph and John Davis’ Davis Entertainment, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Once Upon a One More Time will begin October 29 at the James M. Nederlander Theatre before a November 13 opening. Broadway dates have not been announced.
The stage production will be directed by Kristin Hangii (a Tony nominee for another jukebox musical, Rock of Ages). The show’s book is by Jon Hartmere (Bare: A Pop Opera). Featuring such familiar characters as Cinderella and Snow White, the musical will use Spears' hits to tell the story of a royal book club that has its fairy-tale notions challenged by way of a The Feminine Mystique-wielding fairy godmother.
