Simon Russell Beale Begins Performances in World Premiere of Temple at London's Donwar Warehouse Tonight | Playbill

News Simon Russell Beale Begins Performances in World Premiere of Temple at London's Donwar Warehouse Tonight Simon Russell Beale begins performances in the world premiere of Steve Waters' Temple at London's Donmar Warehouse May 21 prior to an offiical opening May 27, for a run through July 25.

On Oct.15 2011, Occupy London makes camp outside St Paul’s Cathedral. On Oct. 21, a building that remained open through the World War II Blitz, terrorist threats and floods, closes its doors. On Oct. 28, the City of London initiates legal action to begin removing Occupy London from outside the Cathedral. The play provides a fictional account of these events, set in the heart of a very British crisis – a crisis of conscience, a crisis of authority and a crisis of faith.

Beale plays the cathedral's Dean. He has previously appeared at the Donmar in The Philanthropist, Twelfth Night and Uncle Vanya (for which he won the 2003 Olivier Award for Best Actor).

The cast also features Anna Calder-Marshall, Paul Higgins, Rebecca Humphries, Shereen Martin and Malcolm Sinclair.

The play is directed by Howard Davies, with designs by Tim Hatley, lighting by Mark Henderson, sound by Mike Walker and music composed by Stephen Warbeck.
