Ali Ewoldt

Broadway alum Ali Ewoldt leads the cast of Signature Theatre's She Loves Me, opening March 1 at the Virginia regional theatre. The production runs through April 24.

Ewoldt, the first Asian-American actor to play Phantom of the Opera's Christine on Broadway, plays Amalia Balash opposite Deven Kolluri (Geva Theatre's A Christmas Carol) as Georg Nowack. Filling out the cast are Emmanuel Elliot Key as Arpad Laszlo, Bobby Smith as Ladislav Sipos, Maria Rizzo as Ilona Ritter, Jake Loewenthal as Steven Kodaly, Lawrence Redmond as Mr. Maraczek, and David Schlumpf as Head Waiter.

The ensemble includes Andre Hinds, Drake Leach, Christopher Mueller, Daniel Powers, Olivia Ashley Reed, Katherine Riddle, and Jillian Wessel. Marc Pavan, Sarah Anne Sillers, and Dylan Toms are the swings.

Signature Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner directs, with Signature Resident Music Director Jon Kalbfleisch as music director and conductor. The creative team also includes choreographer Kelly Crandall d'Amboise, scenic designer Lee Savage (The Lightning Thief), costume designer Alejo Vietti (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), lighting designer Adam Honoré (Chicken and Biscuits), sound designer Ryan Hickey, and wig designer Anne Nesmith.

Chelsea Pace serves as intimacy consultant, with production stage manager Kerry Epstein and assistant stage manager Julia Singer. Casting is by Kelly Crandall d'Amboise and Jorge Acevedo in collaboration with New York Casting Agent Stewart/Whitley

Rounding out the creative team is production assistant Katie Moshier, assistant director Clancey Yovanovich, associate music director Angie Benson, and keyboard programmer Alexander Greenberg.

A discussion featuring Ewoldt will be held April 7 at 1 PM ET both in-person and streaming on Signature's YouTube channel.

The production has been dedicated to the memory of theatre philanthropist and supporter of Signature Theatre Helen Lee Henderson. Signature's Managing Director Maggie Boland shared She Loves Me is "a show Helen would have been delighted by." The musical is, in Gardiner's words, "the effervescent and romantic story we so desperately need right now."

Located in Arlington, Virginia, Signature Theatre holds the 2009 Tony Award for Best Regional Theatre.
