New York City's Sheen Center for Thought and Culture has unveiled its fall season, a mix of theatre, film, music, author's nights, gallery exhibitions, and talk events that will take place at the downtown venue through the end of the year.

The lineup includes a theatrical re-telling of the Gospel According to John by original Sweeney Todd star Ken Jennings, a holiday concert headlined by Grammy and Tony nominee Vanessa Williams (November 18), and an anniversary screening of the film Romero, starring the late four-time Tony nominee Raúl Juliá (September 19).

The Sheen Center's fall theatre programming will kick off in October with American Slavery Project's Unheard Voices. Marking the 400th anniversary of the arrival of enslaved Africans to the Jamestown colony, 17 writers have created monologues based on the lives of African-descended people who were interred in the African Burial Ground in Lower Manhattan. A monologue play with singing and drumming, performances will be October 15 and 16.

Coinciding with performances, the Gene Alexander Peters Collection of Rare and Historical African American Artifacts will be on display in the theatre lobby, including documents of sale, runaway ads, shackles, and other physical artifacts from the era. Post-show talkbacks will be led by American Slavery Project's Producing Artistic Director Judy Tate.

Next up, Drama Desk winner Jennings (Sweeney Todd, Grand Hotel, Side Show) will perform an edited version of the Gospel According to John. Performances will run November 30–December 29.

The theatre lineup also includes a live edition of Lonnie Firestone's podcast, Places, Everyone. The guest and date of the even are to be announced.
