2nd Stage Theater

Second Stage Theater will host a Fair Chance Job Fair June 6 10 AM–2 PM at both the Hayes Theater and the Youth Justice Network Mobile Career Unit (240 West 44th Street).

The event refrains employers from asking questions about conviction history during the hiring process and aims to support those impacted by the justice system by connecting them with job opportunities and career resources. Employers and community programs attending the job fair include the Saint Nicks Alliance, Defy Ventures, Housing Works Justice Initiatives Reentry Program, Housing Works HR, Exodus Transitional Community, The Public Theater, Roundabout Theater, and more.

The theatre company's social justice initiatives were launched alongside the fall production of Lynn Nottage’s five-time 2022 Tony nominated play Clyde's,which follows four formerly incarcerated kitchen staff working at a sandwich shop.

Additional initiatives include paid apprenticeships with Second Stage Theater for justice system-impacted youth, a live simulcast viewing of Clyde’s at Rikers Island, weekly talkbacks and discussions, an art exhibit at the Hayes Theater featuring works by people impacted by the justice system, and subsidized tickets for formerly incarcerated individuals and their families.
