Roundabout Theatre Company has announced that Tony winner Daniel Sullivan will direct Steven Levenson’s If I Forget Off-Broadway this winter. The production is set to begin performances February 2, 2017, at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre.

Roundabout welcomes back Levenson, a former Underground playwright, with his newest work about “family and a culture at odds with itself.” The story takes place in the final months before 9/11 and follows a liberal Jewish studies professor who is reunited with his two sisters to celebrate their ailing father’s 75th birthday.

“Each deeply invested in their own version of family history, the siblings clash over everything from Michael’s controversial scholarly work to the mounting pressures of caring for an ailing parent. As destructive secrets and long-held resentments bubble to the surface, the three negotiate—with biting humor and razor-sharp insight—how much of the past they’re willing to sacrifice for a chance at a new beginning,” state Roundabout press notes.

If I Forget will officially open February 22. Casting and creative will be announced soon.

Levenson’s plays include The Language of Trees and The Unavoidable DIsapearance of Tom Durnin.
