Williamstown Theatre Festival gives out the award on behalf of the Anna L. Weissberger Foundation.

Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced Mike Lew as the recipient of 2022 L. Arnold Weissberger New Play Award for tiny father. As part of the award, Lew will receive $10,000 in addition to the $10,000 Jay Harris Commission for a new play.

tiny father is loosely based on Lew's experience, and follows Daniel as he suddenly becomes a new father to premature baby that has been placed on life support in the hospital's Natal Intensive Care Unit. The comedy about parenthood was originally an Audible commission.

Williamstown Theatre Festival gives out the award on behalf of the Anna L. Weissberger Foundation. Eric Berryman, John McGinty, and Jen Silverman served as finalist judges for the 2022 competition, which considered Amani by a.k. payneBust by Zora Howard, Dhaba on Devon Avenue by Madhuri Shekar, and Nick & the Prizefighter by Kamilah Bush.

The L. Arnold Weissberger Award recognizes excellence in playwriting in honor of theatre attorney and supporter L. Arnold Weissberger. The Jay Harris Commission is named after Williamstown Theatre Festival's late Trustee Jay Harris. Recently, the award has been given to John J. Caswell Jr. for Wet Brain in 2021 and Sanaz Toossi for English in 2020.
