Gingold Theatrical Group’s Project Shaw, which is under the leadership of artistic director David Staller, continues its 11th season April 25 when it presents two one-act comedies by George Bernard Shaw, The Fascinating Foundling and Augustus Does His Bit, at 7 PM at Symphony Space’s Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2537 Broadway at 95th Street).

Written in 1909, The Fascinating Foundling “brings two determined foundlings together—whether they like it or not,” according to press notes. Augustus Does His Bit, written in 1916, is a “little satirical piece written during WWI, which pits an indomitable woman spy against typical British male bureaucracy.”

Foundling features Malcolm Gets (Horace Brabazon), Ed Dixon, (Mercer), Robert Stanton (Lord Chancellor) and Karen Ziemba (Anastasia Vuilliamy). Augustus features Stanton (Lord Augustus Highcastle), Dixon (Horatio Floyd Beamish) and Ziemba (A Lady).

In an earlier statement Staller said, “These two rarely seen little gems are excellent examples of Shaw at his wickedly comedic best. In both, the women very firmly have the upper hand—and in the most winning way! These one-acts with this cast are the perfect way to launch into Spring the Shaw way.”

The post-show talkback will be led by theatre critic David Finkle, of the Huffington Post.

Tickets are $35 and are available by calling (212) 864-5400 or online at Symphonyspace.org. Special reserved VIP seating is available by contacting the Gingold office at (212) 355-7823 or [email protected].
