Lourds Lane's SuperYou tells the story of a comic book artist whose characters come to life

Kennedy Caughell and Lana Gordon

An industry reading of the new musical SuperYou with book, lyrics, music, and arrangements by Lourds Lane will take place April 21 at Theatre Row. Featured in the cast will be Kennedy Caughell and Lana Gordon, who respectively star in the current Broadway productions of Paradise Square and Hadestown.

The musical tells the story of a comic book artist who goes on a journey of self-discovery after her characters come to life. It contains themes of overcoming grief and finding inner strength. The reading will be presented by Amas Musical Theatre and Melissa M. Jones from All Awesome LLC.

SuperYou includes music supervision and arrangements by Wendy Bobbitt Cavett (Hamilton), and direction and choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat). In addition to starring Caughell and Gordon, it will also feature Carrie Compere (The Color Purple) and Justin Sargent (Rock of Ages).

The work has developed a substantial cult following socially distant concerts staged during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the release of a concept album, TikTok videos, and a movie via Broadway on Demand.
