Jenna Ushkowitz, known for her roles on Glee and the original Broadway cast of Spring Awakening, takes on the role of diner server Dawn in the Broadway musical Waitress beginning July 29 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.
She steps in for original Waitress cast member Kimiko Glenn (Orange Is the New Black), who is taking a leave of absence from the production. A reason for Glenn’s leave was not provided and a return date has not been set.

Ushkowitz joins Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller and Keala Settle in the show’s central trio of women. Waitress also stars Drew Gehling and Christopher Fitzgerald.
The new musical featuring a score by Sara Bareilles is based on the Adrienne Shelly movie of the same title.
