Broadway vet Jeff Kready (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and MurderBilly Elliot The Musical) has stepped into the cast of Broadway's Company revival at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, filling in for Christopher Fitzgerald as David through July 24.

Talk about type casting—the performance places Kready, who has understudied the production's male roles since February, opposite his offstage wife Nikki Renée Daniels, who created the role of David's wife Jenny for the production's Broadway bow.

"Come see if we make a believable married couple, and take in this magnificent production before it’s gone," shares Kready in an Instagram post.

Fitzgerald will return to play the Sondheim musical's final week of performances beginning July 26. The production recently announced that its Broadway run will end July 31.

The gender-swapped Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim’s and George Furth’s Company received five 2022 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical, becoming the season's most Tony-winning production. The revival began previews March 2, 2020, and, following the Broadway shutdown, resumed previews November 15, 2021. The production officially opened December 9, 2021. Read the reviews here.

The production also received Tony Awards for Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Patti LuPone), Best Featured Actor in a Musical (Matt Doyle), Best Scenic Design of a Musical (Bunny Christie), and Best Director of a Musical for Marianne Elliott. Elliott's Tony was her third for directing, making her the most honored female director in Broadway history. The production also received four Drama Desk Awards, three Outer Critics Circle Awards, and the GLAAD Media Award.

Company stars Tony winner Katrina Lenk as Bobbie and LuPone, who received her third career Tony for her performance as Joanne. Joining Lenk and LuPone are Doyle, who received Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Jamie; two-time Tony nominee Christopher Sieber as Harry; two-time Tony nominee Jennifer Simard as Sarah; Terence Archie as Larry; Grammy Award winner Etai Benson as Paul; Bobby Conte as P.J.; Daniels as Jenny; Claybourne Elder as Andy; Greg Hildreth as Peter; Manu Narayan as Theo; and Rashidra Scott as Susan.

The cast also includes Kathryn Allison, Britney Coleman, Jacob Dickey, Javier Ignacio, Anisha Nagarajan, Nicholas Rodriguez, Heath Saunders, Tally Sessions, and Matt Wall.

The production has choreography by Liam Steel, sets and costumes by Bunny Christie, lighting by Neil Austin, sound design by Ian Dickinson of Autograph, and illusions by Chris Fisher. Joel Fram serves as music supervisor and director, with orchestrations by David Cullen and dance arrangements by Sam Davis. Casting is by Cindy Tolan.
