Despite the promise of cornbread and chili, Broadway’s latest revival of Oklahoma! offers a decidedly more stark experience than the musical’s previous Main Stem bows. However, the wavin’ wheat still smells sweet as audiences continue to pack the Circle in the Square Theater from all angles.

The production, having opened April 7, reached its highest gross yet in the week ending April 21 with $604,973 (81.1 percent of its potential). It also celebrated its fourth consecutive week surpassing 100 percent capacity. As awards season continues and buzz strengthens, an uptick in average ticket price will likely bring it closer to its gross potential.

Meanwhile, recent arrivals Hadestown and What the Constitution Means to Me also reached new heights in numbers, while the Aaron Sorkin-penned To Kill a Mockingbird continued its gangbusters run with $1,720,828, breaking its own box-office record at the Shubert Theatre.
