Songs by an Immigrant Vol. 2 will release next year.

Composer Jamie Lozano has released the first single from his upcoming album Songs by an Immigrant Vol 2. "No Podemos Regresar (We Can’t Never Go Back Home)" features music by Lozano and lyrics by his long-time collaborator Tommy Newman, with Lozano's wife Florencia Cuenca providing vocals. Songs by an Immigrant Vol. 2 is expected to release in March 2023.

The song is a part of Lozano and Newman's musical El Otro Oz (formerly known as The Yellow Brick Road), an adaptation of L. Frank Baum's The Wizard of Oz that has been compared to Ahrens and Flaherty's Once on This Island

"'No Podemos Regresar' is a song very close to my heart. It’s a song about leaving your home and everything you know behind hoping for a better life. My wife Florencia and I did that 7 years ago with no money or savings and it has been a very challenging journey but here we are,” says Lozano in a statement.

The music video is a collaboration with Mexican television producer Alejandro Pujol, and was filmed in the desert of Icamole in Mina, Nuevo León, México. Directed, edited and post-produced by Pujol, it includes photography by Cristhian Blancas. Alonzo Lozano served as the location assistant, and Florencia Cuenca's poncho was provided by Josefina by Vero Solís.

Lozano's first Songs by an Immigrant album released last year, featuring featuring collaborations with Hamilton orchestrator and music producer Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton and In the Heights star Mandy Gonzalez, On Your Feet! star Mauricio Martínez, and more. Lozano's stage works include Tlatelolco, Myths, The Yellow Brick Road (Off-Broadway and national tour), Carmen La Cubana (European tour), Children of Salt (NYMF 2016 Best of Fest), A Never-Ending Line(Comédie Nation in Paris, France, and Off-Broadway), Savage (UAB at Birmingham), and Present Perfect(Live & In Color).
