Musical duo Pasek and Paul have set their sights on the classic computer game The Oregon Trail for their next project! As announced in Collider, the pair have partnered with filmmakers Will Speck and Josh Gordon to bring the educational game to the screen, with a musical score by the Dear Evan Hansen Tony winners.

While a studio is not yet attached, the foursome have obtained the rights to the IP of the original game, which will separate their project from previous parody musical A Trail to Oregon! by Starkid Productions.

Originally released in 1974, The Oregon Trail is a massively successful educational computer game meant to teach students the circumstances of 19th-century American pioneer migration. The success of the game has since spawned many sequels, including a recent edition from Apple in 2021.

Pasek and Paul's musical's include Broadway's A Christmas Story The Musical and Dear Evan Hansen, and Off-Broadway's Dogfight. The team's screen work has included The Greatest ShowmanLa La Land, and Smash.
