2022 Tony Award-winning Best Play The Lehman Trilogy will join the catalog of play and musical licensor Concord Theatricals for stock and amateur licensing under their Samuel French imprint. The work is written by Stefano Massini and adapted by Ben Power.

Based on true events, the play waves together nearly two centuries of Lehman family history, from their humble beginnings to stratospheric success and a devastating failure that set off a global recession.

Originally staged in French, the work made its English-language debut at London's National Theatre in 2015. Directed by 2022 Tony winner Sam Mendes, that production made its North American debut at the Park Avenue Armory and played a West End encore engagement, both in 2019, before opening its COVID-delayed Broadway debut in 2021. Since Broadway, the production has played engagements at Center Theatre Group's Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles and American Conservatory Theatre's Geary Theater in San Francisco. A limited series adaptation of the play is in the works, along with another West End return engagement. The work has also been adapted into a novel.

"On behalf of Stefano and myself, we are thrilled to be partnering with Concord and bringing The Lehman Trilogy to audiences and theatre-makers around the world,” says Power in a statement. "This adaptation has already traveled from Milan to London to New York, and thanks to the world-class skill and expertise of Concord, we look forward to that journey continuing for many years to come."

"This towering play combines poetry, scale, and invention to explore 150 years of history, the American dream, success and failure—all resting on the shoulders of three extraordinary actors," adds Concord Vice President of Acquisitions and Artistic Development Steven Greenhaigh. "In collaboration with United Agents and Zachar International, we look forward to introducing The Lehman Trilogy to our theatre makers all over the world."

The Lehman Trilogy won five 2022 Tony Awards June 12, including Best Play, Leading Actor in a Play (Simon Russell Beale), Direction (Mendes), Lighting Design (Jon Clark), and Scenic Design (Es Devlin).
