Playbill Goes Fringe Assembly Announces Over 50 Theatre Shows for 2023 Edinburgh Fringe

Assembly is the longest-running venue operator at the Fringe, curating its own selection of shows.

Alison Skilbeck’s Uncommon Ground, Hello, the Hell: Othello, andMythos: Ragnarok

Over 50 theatre shows have been announced as part of Assembly's offerings for the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe. The world's largest arts festival takes over the Scottish city this summer August 2-28.

Among this year's theatre offerings are Alison Skilbeck's Uncommon Ground; an imagined afterlife for Shakespeare's characters in Hello, The Hell: Othello; and Mythos: Ragnarok, which weaves ancient legends with professional wrestling. Others include the return of 2022 shows Watson: The Final Problem for Sherlock Holmes fans and Salamander, which was inspired by the unsolved 1983 murder of a sex worker.

Assembly is one of the most recognized and longest-established presenters and venue operators at the Fringe, as its Founding Director William Burdett-Coutts was the first to try out the idea of a curated hub of several shows in 1981. The idea was a success, and has since become an integral characteristic of the Fringe.
