California's La Jolla Playhouse has announced a new production of William Shakespeare's comedy, As You Like It. Co-directed by Tony winner Christopher Ashley, and Hayes winner Will Davis, the production will feature a cast of Trans, Non-binary, and queer performers. The production will play the Playhouse's Potiker Theatre November 15–December 11, with opening night set for November 20.

“What a privilege it is to work with acclaimed director Will Davis, our amazing producing partners at Diversionary Theatre, and this astonishingly talented company. We couldn't ask for a better group to bring Shakespeare’s enduring work to joyous life,” said Ashley. “As You Like It inherently embodies an irrepressible spirit of playfulness and an exploration of love, gender, and self-discovery.”

In the Shakespeare comedy, the exiled Orlando, Duke Senior, his daughter Rosalind, and niece Celia find a welcoming community filled with love in the Forest of Arden. Far from the restrictions of court life, lovers are reunited by fate as identities are explored and given space to blossom.

Carlis Roberts as Musician, Cody Sloan as Touchstone, Peter Smith as Rosalind and Taiwo Sokan as Ensemble.

Carlis Roberts, dramaturg Regina Victor, and intimacy and fight director Chelsea Pace.
